BARISTA

Katie’s Cup is seeking organized, efficient, energetic, and friendly baristas to join our crew. If you enjoy providing excellent customer service and tasty coffee drinks, we want you to come dazzle our customers! The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating a friendly and welcoming relationship with our customers, both new and returning, while ensuring that they receive prompt service of our delicious fare and gracious service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet customers with warmth and enthusiasm. (We are here because of, and for, our customers.)

  • Accurate cash handling and input of orders into POS system.

  • Make drinks and food according to set recipes.

  • Deliver customer orders quickly and efficiently.

  • Inform customers about specials. (Seasonal, holiday, daily, weekly, etc)

  • Provide enthusiastic advice about products, our facility, and our mission when asked.

  • Work with other team members to ensure a top-notch customer experience.

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas of the facility.

  • Maintain good personal appearance at all times. (Personal expression is welcomed.)

  • Basic inventory review, stocking, and updating of weekly grocery lists.

  • Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service.

  • Working to attract new customers and expanding the menu. (New ideas are encouraged!)

  • Listen well and communicate in a professional and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience preferred, but not necessary. (We will train you!)

  • Coffee/cafe/bookstore/event coordination experience and IL Food Handler's Certification is a plus. (We can provide certification training)

  • Flexibility and willingness to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays as needed.

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.

  • Ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient when busy.

  • Ability to work closely with other crew members and flexible enough to pitch in where needed to get the job done. (We are a team, always.)

  • Willingness to memorize a number of drinks and their ingredients.

  • Able to follow recipes (for food, for drink, for success…)

  • Enthusiasm for service, coffee, books, life!

 

Pay Rate: We pay the state required minimum wage, paid every two weeks

Supplemental pay: Tips + $100 Bonus after 90 days

Hours: Approximately 15-20+ per week, flexible scheduling.
Tuesday - Friday: days between 7am - 4pm, occasional evenings between 5pm - 9pm
Weekends: Hours vary based on rentals and special events; between 10am - 9pm

COVID-19 precautions
Staff is required to wear masks at all times during shifts. Cleaning and illness protocols are strictly followed. Staff must be flexible to changing Federal, State, and local health guidelines and show professionalism at all times. COVID-19 vaccination is highly encouraged, but not required for employment.
