Closure Extended Through April 7th

As we continue to monitor the changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic and work to follow all federal, state, and local mandates, Katie’s Cup will extend its closure through April 7th.

During these times of uncertainty, please consider making a tax-deductible donation through the “Donate” page on our website. We are a small local 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Every dollar donated will support our staff during the ongoing shutdown and allow us to return to serving the community when the mandates are lifted. We love you all and are so grateful for your continued support.

If you have an event scheduled with us anytime through April 8th, we will be contacting you within the next several days. We also encourage all affected rental customers to contact us with any questions or concerns, to receive updates, and to discuss available options.

At this time, we are not accepting any new reservations for March or April. Reservations and rental information for May and the rest of 2020 may be requested through the contact form on our website.

Katie's Cup Temporarily Closed Due to State Mandate

Earlier today, Governor Pritzker announced that all Illinois restaurants and bars must close down their dining areas in a concerted effort to slow the transmission of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19). The Winnebago County Health Department also announced a case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in our area.

These new developments, in conjunction with earlier pronouncements and recommendations, have forced us to make the extremely difficult decision to temporarily turn off our lights and lock our doors. So, beginning Tuesday, March 17 and extending through Monday, March 30, Katie’s Cup coffeebar and rental spaces will be closed and all scheduled events canceled.

As a small local not-for-profit organization, this decision was not made lightly or without great concern. In the end, we were unable to find a way to continue operating within the limitations set down by the state and county officials. But have no fear! There are ways you can continue to support Katie’s Cup during this difficult time. We will be open our normal hours of 7am – 4pm on Monday, March 16 for breakfast and lunch. Come in and grab a bite to eat, have our baristas make your favorite coffee drink, and stock up on your favorite Katie’s Cup coffee flavors to brew at home (whole bean or ground). We will also have gift cards and gift certificates that can be redeemed once we re-open.

We’re also able to accept donations through the “Donate” page on our website and via USPS mail. Every dollar that is spent at our coffee bar or donated goes directly into keeping Katie’s Cup alive and serving our community through our numerous free-to-the-public programs, supports local artists and musicians, provides low-cost spaces for families, friends, and neighbors to gather, and much, much more. Your generosity helps us to continue serving the community and we thank you.

If you have an event scheduled with us during March, we will be contacting you within the next couple of days via phone or email to discuss available options. At this time, we are not accepting any new reservations for March or April. Reservations and rental information for May and the rest of 2020 may be requested through the contact form on our website at www.katiescup.com.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email at katiescupcoffee@gmail.com for the quickest response, or through our website or by phone at 815.986.0628. Please allow several business days for us to reach back out to you as responses will be delayed by the shutdown.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this closure brings. Please stay healthy, stay safe, and we look forward to serving you again very, very soon!

A Message from the Administrator: COVID-19

Friends,

Today, we renew our commitment to prompt customer service and the health and safety of our patrons and staff as we face the challenge of responding to COVID-19 together.

As the news is constantly breaking with new scary headlines, closures, and cancellations, we are trying to stay positive, informed, and understanding, but the news is changing so fast we can hardly keep up!

We are sad that a number of the events we were preparing for have been canceled and worried that no one will fill our seats in the coming days. Like all other independent businesses in these times, we’re faced with the decision of closing up shop, dramatically cutting hours, or finding alternate solutions for the sake of our employees, who rely on their jobs to pay bills.

As of now we will continue operating during our normal business hours as well as honoring all currently booked events. Our Board is continuing to monitor the ongoing situation and will make additional decisions on cancellations over the coming weeks.

We are working very hard to keep our staff and customers happy and healthy. While we have always worked to keep Katie’s Cup clean, we have stepped up our game and are cleaning and sanitizing our tables, chairs, door handles, and bathrooms more frequently. We have also instructed our staff to stay home if they are in question at all about their health or the health of someone in their home. We are paying close attention to what the health officials have to say and are following their instructions and working to implement the guidelines set forth by agencies such as the CDC and the Winnebago County Health Department. Should confirmation of COVID-19 occur in our area, Katie’s Cup has developed and is prepared to implement a multi-tier action plan in response to address this rapidly evolving situation.

If you don't feel like going out, we understand. Maybe instead call in for a takeout order, get some gift cards for a meal or event at a later date, or donate directly through our website. Anything helps and is appreciated. And please support your other local businesses too, and be helpful where you can. This is a tough time for everyone.

Thank you so much for your continued support during this unprecedented period of history. We love and are so thankful for our customers and staff - We’re all in this together.

Stay healthy, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon at the Cup!

~ Heather Ashcraft, Administrator, Katie’s Cup coffeebar
